The days are shorter and the nights are cooler, but the Lorain County Chamber is kicking into high gear with events for our members and all of Lorain County.
At the end of September, the County Chamber was glad to help out our friends at the NorthCoast BIA and we attended and provided a door prize for their Annual Clambake at Sweetbriar Golf Course in Avon Lake. The BIA was gracious enough to move their clambake when we realized there was a conflict with the day of our Clambake in the Landscape. So it turned into a win-win situation for us both. Both events were great and well attended. This is what partnerships are all about and at the County Chamber, we pride ourselves on partnering with the best people, organizations and institutions! Great job Kelli and Jean!
President Frank DeTillio was one of the guests who attended the reopening of the Emerson Network Power Energy Systems facility (formerly Lorain Products and Marconi) in Lorain. The reopening coincided with a complete refurbishing of the warehouse facility and more importantly, helped to keep over 200 jobs in the City of Lorain.
Our October BAH was an Oktoberfest theme and we were immersed in German fare, music and food at BFL Marketing’s event. Well over 100 County Chamber members, guests and BFL-GRA employees were on hand to network under the crisp, blue October skies. Denny Pavan and John Rich provided an atmosphere that was Autumn perfect for a pleasant Indian Summer evening in Lorain County. Our sites now turn to Quarry Lakes in Amherst on November 9, the home of our next Business After Hours.
The Lorain County Safety Council went “on the road” this month, as we switched gears and locations to hold our monthly meeting at the French Creek YMCA for a Health & Wellness program provided by Joe Cerny and his staff at the new YMCA. Nearly 100 Safety Council members were given a tour of the facility and afterward were given information on how to keep their employees healthy and fit with a customized Wellness program. October also marked the annual Workers Compensation Rebate day, and we were also privileged to hand out over 75 members with $246,000+ dollars in rebates earned. Over 9 million dollars was rebated across the state of Ohio.
The 2nd Annual Midway Mall Marketing Expo had many County Chamber Members that participated again this year. Food, networking and information gathering was the name of the game and there were a lot of business cards that were exchanged that evening. Thank you to the over 20 vendors who participated again this year and as always, thanks to Mark Bressler and the folks at Midway Mall for hosting us again this year.
Remember to sign up early for our Autumn Beer and Food Tasting event at Diso’s Bistro on November 4th and keep your eyes open for a Coffee, Tea & Contacts added in December set to be held at the new Panera off of Oakpoint Road.
